Carl Schatz, Condiror. Our pick for "kaffe und kuchen". A tiny place with only ten tables, we shared with one of the regular senior ladies of Salzburg. She told us her nephew trained to bake here at the Carl Schatz, and moved on to work at the famous Cafe Tomaselli, where they've been serving kaffee and kuchen to the resdients of Salzburg since the 1700s. I had the Mohnkuchen, a cake heavy with poppy seeds and frosted in chocolate butter cream.
