Do not, under any circumstances, go to Agua Verde on the first sunny night of the season. You will be last to be seated, you won’t get the agua fresca you want or maybe you will, you’ll be lectured for standing on the pier where the kayaks are. You will wonder if all of a sudden, every single person in Seattle is under age 26, except that one guy. If you insist on going anyway, go early, at least then, you’ll have some chance of service and a table. Or, get in line at the take out counter and get your meal to go, then walk down to the park on the water. It’s right there, for crying out loud, and you can probably hear yourself think if you sit outside. The nopalitos, by the way, are a little too salty, thought they’re still pretty damn tasty.
Also do not eat the cinammon rolls from Essential Baking. Honest to god, they could give you the first one for free because that’s all it takes. The gooey caramelesque coating, the slightly candied pecans, the sticky yeast dough, even the sugar glazing all combine to make a pastry that will haunt you. You will eye other cinammon rolls with disdain, scorn even. You will order the last one from the bakery case every single time, regardless of time of day, just because it is there. It is the best damn cinammon roll you will ever have and you will be hooked. I don’t know about you, but I just don’t need to be addicted to a product that has enough calories to fuel an oil tanker on a Pacific crossing. And yet, it is too late.
Don’t make the same mistakes, okay?
