I don’t keep my blogroll (link lists) up to date. I wouldn’t assume that just because it’s a link on my site it has value to you. Plus, I use Bloglines for most of my reading, so I don’t need a current list on my site for my own purposes.
Also, a list is just a list. Unless it’s decently indexed somehow, it’s of no use to you. Lots of bloggy types have generous linking policies – you link to them, they link to you – but I’m lazy and, oh, I’ll just say it, sometimes snobbish. I don’t see a ton of stuff that I really want to share. At least I didn’t until recently.
Maybe it’s because I’ve been spending a ridiculous amount of time looking. It’s a byproduct of our brutal cold snap (-23C/-9F today) and my newly assigned positon as editor for BlogHer’s Europe section. I can’t post everything I’ve found to BlogHer, but hey, that’s why I have my own internet playground, no? My site, my editorial policy! Absolute editorial power corrupts absolutely!
So. In a more community minded spirit than I usually feel (“Dude, that’s not about me. What gives?”) I would like to share with you some of the sites that I’ve been enjoying.
- This guy, the way he writes, I dunno. It makes me all crazy. It’s so personal. But not in a “too much information” kinda way, just in this really genuine sort of way.
- This woman, in the Czech Republic, also writes in this wow so personal kind of way, plus, she posted the link to this, which I am playing over and over and over again and you should too. Because, as I said in the email to my Seattle pals about that video, if you’re not charmed by it, well, I don’t even know you.
- These people are zero assistance in helping anyone get over their art school dreams of living in Paris. They’re just not.
- As kind of a news junkie, I really feel left out when it comes to what’s going on in Europe. After all, Europe is a whole lot of nations, no? Can you imagine trying to track the news for 22 countries? In many different languages? That is why I am ever so pleased to have found these folks.
- And, also addressing Euro-news issues, and more, but with extra snark – a person needs their snark! – well, thank you to these guys.
- And by the same folks that made that video, there are these videos. Anyone who’s ever had a crappy office job is going to crack right up. Oh my god, the expressions on the guy’s face, it just slays me!
- That little cartoon in the top right corner is a link too. Click the image to get more funny.
Okay, that’s enough. It’s not all I have, but it’s more than enough if you even click two of those links. Oh, wait. There’s one more thing I’m going to tell you about. My article about the snowshoe races is up here. That’s about me.
Now, in an uncharacteristic move, I request you turn your attention elsewhere.
Whew, gobs to look at, the animation in the JCB song is just lovely. Thanks for that!
