Travel Gear: Isolation Earphones

If it’s not a crying little one – I get it, I feel like crying too – it’s the guy across the aisle who will – oh my GOD – not shut up about the business deals he’s making in Bermuda. Add the general noise of the plane to that and it’s no wonder that I arrive with a headache almost every time.

No more! I dropped a little dough in the airport and picked up a pair of Shure e2c Earphones. I did my homework first, read some reviews, chatted with some owners… and these little guys turned out to be just the thing for long haul flying. (Smarter folks will buy them somewhere other than the airport.)

On the plane, I heard the movie, my music, and not much else. I don’t think they’ll replace the lesser quality earbuds that came with the iPod or the big padded Sony headphones for regular use – the Shure Earphones start to hurt my ears after a while.

But for flying, commuting on the bus, and blocking out that woman who is repeatedly telling the story of recovering her kids from Child Protective Services on the 7 hour train ride (eyup) these things are the bomb. I’m adding them to the “must have” packing list.
