What A Swell Party!

Prezzies!

It is a lot of work to plan a big party, but if you are a lucky person (and that I am!) and have friends and family to help out, you can do it with nary a hitch. The folks who showed up early helped set up chairs and tables. A vast array of cake appeared not only from our kitchen, but from the kitchens and nearby bakeries of friends and family. My brother tended to the slicing. Euro-husband popped the champagne. Uke playing friends sat in the corner and played Ukulele Lady and Blue Skies and Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Happy Birthday – twice, once for me, once for my mom. Folks even cleared off exactly on time – tricky when you’re in a rented facility – and latecomers were big help in the cleanup. The gal from the city complimented us on our excellent cleanup and organization. Even the weather cooperated, giving us a much needed break in the wind and rain for the evening – the storm only started to pick up again once we were back home in my apartment.

To everyone who was there, I can’t say thanks enough, for the prezzies, the music, the help, and the good company. And if you weren’t there, I understand and please know that you were missed, not in a “Dammit, they said they were coming” sort of way but in a “This would be even more fun if you were here, but I get it” sort of way.

What a swell party. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  1. J and I were sitting in a Japanese restaurant last night–having my birthday dinner a night early since he’ll be gone part of today–and out of the blue I suddenly gasped, “I missed Pam’s birthday!” I’m sorry I’m late to the ‘party’ to send my well wishes…we were out of town for a few days for my stepmother’s big 70th bash. Looks like a fabulous party!!! (And I, too, love the shirt.) Happy Birthday, Pam!!!

  2. Big apologies for missing your celebration, PamNerd. We lost our Auntie Lily and had her funeral late last week. I would have been miserable company at your wingding. Though, admitedly, a good uke tune or two would have cheered me up considerably.

Happy Birthday! And, always remember that old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

  3. It’s apparent from the smile that good times were had all around. Sorry I missed the fun and as always Happy B-Day! Will have to make up for missing to many of these in the near future.

    Enjoy and have fun!
