Friends tried to convince me that the thing I needed to do on this lovely snowflocked morning was this: Get in my car and drive to Redmond, home of a Large Software Corporation (LSC), and take pictures of the campus. I do believe it was beautiful there, the grounds at LSC can be lovely and I’m sure that they were especially lovely covered in snow.
However, a walk through our neighborhood revealed plenty of sparkle. I didn’t even know we had a sledding hill here on Capitol Hill, but we do, we do! It’s right behind SAM in Volunteer Park and free from cars. This might have been a better pick for the two bundled in pink little girls who chose to sled in the alley this morning, though I certainly laughed out loud when I heard them squealing with glee outside my house.
A stroll along 15th put us in contact with many behatted neighbors, taking advantage of this rare sunshine to get a cup of coffee or cocoa at one or our local java joints. Laptop users were outnumbered at Victrola by People Just Visiting. It’s icy out there, boys and girls, so watch your step, and bundle up, but for the love of god, get out there in the sunshine!
Speakers on. Now, it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Last evening the Sacramento news mentioned my hometown (where we were just visiting the folks last weekend) as a place they might get snow last night. (because it’s so rare to have it falling at sea level). I’ll have to call Dad this morning to see if it came true. Does the snow make you miss Austria (even more this time of year)?
We passed several sledders yesterday on a tiny hill in park near the PCC on 65th Street and 45th AVE NE. It looked like so much fun, I wanted to hang out there instead of going to work.
Oh how I miss Fred Rogers! *sniff*
NO snow here. None. Not one single flake yet. Just a small hurricane.
Oh well. At least it’s weather.
