Wow, our kitchen is total chaos. Well, not so much chaos as mostly packed and not very easy to work in. Where is the pepper mill, the balsamic vinegar, the whisk? Who can say? Somewhere, there’s a box that says, maybe, “kitchen utensils” or possibly just “kitchen.”
No matter, we are nothing if not resourceful here at the soon to be vacated Nerd’s Eye View HQ. Also, we are very close to the supermarket, something we will be remember with a mix of fondness and irritation at the New Nerd’s Eye View HQ which is not so very close to the supermarket.
Luckily, we still know where the cast iron frying pan is and while we’re using things up, we were able to whip up a very nice scram out of the last of the eggs, not quite the last of the capers, some green onions, and a bit of what’s called “lox trimmings” from the seafood case at the market. We also picked up some greens to make a salad, though I had to untape a carton labeled “kitchen, glass, heavy” to fetch dressing for the salad.
By this time tomorrow we’ll have nothing left available by way of usable kitchen items. Everything has to be boxed up for the movers who arrive at 930 on Fish Wednesday. We’d be happy and oh so grateful if you’d invite us to your house for dinner anytime in the next two weeks. We may not be very good guests, being in a rather eat and run mindset as we tackle the long list of chores at our new house, but we will return the favor by cooking you a fine meal once we get settled in. When you ask what to bring we will say, “Nothing, nothing at all, unless there’s something you really want to drink, then you should bring that. Also, is there anything you absolutely will not eat?”
In case you doubt our seriousness, yesterday, we eyed a dining table that seats six.

You’re welcome to stop round mine. I have some bitchin’ scallops from Waitrose.
Good luck sweetpea 🙂
