We still don’t have a usable kitchen, that explains it, okay?
- Bakery Nouveau: The Best Treats, uncontested. They totally need to fix the interior though, it’s just wrong.
- Sugar Rush: Okay, it’s cozy in there and the coffee is good, but the treats we tried left us totally nonplussed.
- Capers: This is an oddball place, but their treats come from Essential, which means we will not be forever deprived of the best cinnamon roll in the city.
- Great Harvest: I like a nice grainy bread as much as the next person, but if you’re going to splurge on a treat, this is not the place. Get your whole wheat loaf and move on.
- Verite: A three dollar cupcake should really blow your socks off. My socks? Still on. Okay, the MoFro mocha and choco cupcake? That one is yummy. And the coffee? Rocket fuel.
- Lladro: Super close to us, but oddly gloomy inside. What’s up with that? You won’t be seeing us at Lladro in February, that’s for sure.
- Carosello: Never mind the random decor, so far, this place wins “cheery neighborhood joint closest to our house.” A good cookie, too.
- C&P: Another one that stays on the favorites list. I love this place. Love it.
- Rozella: Cute, cute, cute, and pretty close to our White Center pals so not a bad place to meet for a chat.
- Java Bean: Oh, I’m a sucker for kitschy western decor, crazy colors, and old furniture. Good coffee, but the treats got a mere “meh.”
- Alki Bakery: Location, location, location.

Bird on a Wire espresso. Tiny but cute location, good coffee and great treats.
Try the stuffed brioche at Bakery Nouveau. I agree about the need to change the interior. Maybe they will read this blog and get motivated 🙂
