1. Things seen in crazy quantity on the backs of scooters:
- Dogs
- Pigs
- Greenery
- Ceramic vases
2. Setting, rainy courtyard.
A dozen people are chopping frogs over a large blue plastic bin. They’re all dressed in translucent blue rain jackets with the hoods up. A girl stops what she’s doing and stomps over to us. “My name Ming, what your name?!” Everyone is smiling and gawking at us with the same interest that we’re gawking right back at them. I point at my camera and then at the group and they say it’s okay for me to snap a few photos. “I sorry,” says Ming, “I busy now.” And she stomps back to tearing apart the frogs.
3. Honking. Honking. Honking. Good lord, all the honking.
If you are already there it might be a little late for this, but check out Stewart’s web site and travel tips for Vietnam.
I met him a few weeks ago & he seems to have good tips for travel there.

Is the air thick with smog from all these scooters?
