Dakota Cafe, Ellensburg: A bright deli in the middle of downtown across the street from the museum. Fresh sandwiches with yummy garlic dills, coffee and treats.
Sports Center Bar and Grill: You can’t miss the hunter in his safety gear firing neon shots into the night. A freindly bar with a long copper counter. Supririsingly delicious food – I had wild mushroom ravioli! – and excellent microbrews on tap. If we lived in Yakima, we’d hang out here.
Essencia Bakery: My bakery locating skills are not to be messed with. We had something called a “beehive” – crossiant dough in a muffin shaped twist with cinnamon and sugar. Mmmmmessy.
Miner’s Drive-In: The American road trip isn’t complete without fries. Packed to bursting on the weekends, this place provides the giant burgers, crunchy fries, and shakes you need a spoon for to make your road trip right. Expect to wait.
Northtown Coffee: You can take the hipster* out of Seattle but if you give her brewed diner coffee for days at a time, she’s going to switch to tea. Northtown fixes that situation right up. Beautiful corner space, high ceilings, good joe. The perfect place to get a caffiene fix before you hit the highway.
*I’m pretty sure I’m not a hipster, but I don’t know what other word to use. Boho?
