Not on my list of things to accomplish? Drink cheap beer back stage at a divey bar and then, play in a “band” on stage at said bar. Nonetheless, if that’s not on your to-do list for this lifetime, I highly recommend you add it, pronto. If you’re in a city famous for music — Nashville, Austin, Seattle, or New York City, so much the better.
Vintage aloha shirt from Goodwill, silk flower haku lei from a neighbor, PBR from an ice bucket marked “Band Beer Only.” Ukulele (not pictured) by Pono via Scotty’s Music on Kauai. The setting, the green room, painted a sticky and unnerving shade of blue and furnished with a couch that would benefit from being set on fire, the walls covered with stickers, obscene graffiti, and despair.
Yeah, it was awesome, thanks for asking, and, as I keep saying at practice, “We’re not getting any worse.”
Nice that you could cross off something from your bucket list that you didn’t realize was on it before. You look very at home in that green room. I’m just sayin’ . . .
Ha! What Lori said.
That is all.
Classic Pam, enjoy, looks like you are having fun! Hurry back to Hawaii Nei bring the band with ya
Just wanted to tell you that my daughter asked for a ukulele for her 15th birthday. The choice was influenced by you in the sense that I have become so enthusiastic about the instrument through your enthusiasm and all of the other links you have place and I passed it on to her. So, here is a toast to you for, indirectly, recruiting another ukulele fiend.
(She already plays piano, sax, and started on guitar at Christmas. She says ukulele is much cooler than guitar.)
@lia — your comment has delighted me beyond words. i’m just watching some video from our show and you reminded me… i don’t play so much for how it sounds, but for how it makes me feel. hooray for your 15yo and hooray for the ukulele! may she play it with lots of happiness for many years to come.
