I learned it, now it’s your turn. You’ll find the chords for the arrangement I’m playing here, though I’ve replaced the Db9 with Gm7 and the C9 with C7 because my ears like it better that way. And hey, maybe some day I’ll learn to sing, but today is not that day.
Nice! Great arrangement, you played it well, and you sing just fine. I do think the key is a bit low for your vocal range. I know a couple of theory nuts who would tell you this would be an excellent opportunity to transpose up a couple of steps. 🙂
If it wasn’t arranged in those weird jazz chords, I’d be more willing to mess with the transposition. Maybe a capo would be a LOT easier, but that just seems silly on a uke.
Wow! Bellissima! what wrist action. you chord change so smoothy…Okay I’m going to lock myself in my room for a week now out of shame. Hang a sign on my door–Amatuer Uke Player. BEWARE.
My girlfriend, Reb is trying (and trying) to learn ukulele, so I know how much you put into this. Very impressed. Here in Wellington there’s an International Ukulele Orchestra — you might like them: http://www.ukulele.co.nz/
Excellent job! I needed a new song to work on, and you’ve inspired me to do this one – thanks for that 🙂
I don’t play instruments (I’m too lazy), but this arrangement happens to be RIGHT in my range. My sweet spot singing-wise. I’d never heard the song before, but I’d be willing to learn it and sing along at TBEX next year (or sooner, should the opportunity present itself). Does that count? 🙂
Yes. Yes, it counts. And how.
Rock on, Pam! Love it.
Nicely played, Pam & thanks for the chart, too!
I think it would be easy to play this up a couple of frets, as most of the chords have no open strings. The few that do, just barre ’em up with the index finger. So much easier on the uke than the guitar.
I’m lazy, but you’re right. I’m going to try it moved up one step to see what happens. The chords LOOK hard, but you and I know they’re not so complex.
I love love love this song! Sang it in college at a recital once… so fun. And your uke skills are fierce! Bravo! I look forward to a concert at TBEX ’11.
