Last week I went to Ballard to interview Bill Erickson of Erickson Longboards for a story. We talked about skateboarding and salvaging materials and travel and Hawaii, specifically. When I called to set a date for the interview, he was standing at the Hilo Farmer’s Market, which was funny because I was there the following week, partly to do a story about shopping in Hilo.
I took photos in Bill’s shop at Ballard Woodworks — first on the landing where we sat and talked and had coffee, and then, down in his working space. The full story is on Afar, please go have a read.
I love doing interviews and it’s always cool to talk to people who make things with their hands.
hey! I know that guy! (you know from where.)
he keeps saying I should try out the longboard. I keep pointing out old, fat, and clumsy but he’s just sure I could rock one.
